McGriff opens new office in economically vibrant Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. – McGriff today said it has opened a new office in downtown Mobile, heart of the rapidly expanding South Alabama region. It will be anchored by Greg Wells, a senior vice president along with employee benefits producer Carter Drane. Like other McGriff offices, this location will provide, property and casualty insurance, surety, and employee benefits solutions to clients in the region.

Located in the city’s Commerce Building, the office will be staffed with risk management experts in the Gulf Coast’s fastest growing industries, including marine, construction, transportation, healthcare, and manufacturing. The office will work closely with McGriff offices in Birmingham, New Orleans, and Houston.

Along with locations in Birmingham and Troy, the Mobile office will be the company’s third in Alabama, the state where McGriff predecessor McGriff, Seibels & Williams was founded in 1886.

McGriff plans to hire seven insurance and risk management professionals in the Mobile area as part of its expansion. “We’re very excited to have a local presence to support our existing clients in and around the Mobile area and look forward to continued growth,” Wells said.

Wells joined McGriff in 2022 with more than 12 years of experience with international insurance brokerage firms, with a primary focus in marine, construction, and property and casualty risks. He earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing and business management from the University of Alabama.
