November 30, 2023

CHARLOTTE, NC – McGriff, one of the leading full-service retail insurance brokers in the U.S., announced today that it has promoted two new leaders in the firm’s Risk Services division. Brandon McCosh has been promoted to National Director, Risk Control. Shane Sumrall has been promoted to National Director, Claims.

“Both Brandon and Shane are well-established and well-respected leaders within the McGriff organization,” said Carolyn Littlefield, director of strategic projects at McGriff. “We are confident that they will continue to deliver on the high standards of excellence that define their respective teams and play a vital role in McGriff’s future success.”

Brandon McCosh joined McGriff’s Risk Services division in 2017, bringing more than 25 years of risk management, risk control, and organizational leadership experience. His diverse background includes work in the private sector as well as with government agencies focused on oil and energy, nuclear, healthcare, hospitality, and emergency services. Before joining McGriff, McCosh led efforts at a large oil and gas firm to correct significant safety and quality assurance deficiencies. He holds an associate's degree in fire science and bachelor's degrees in occupational safety and health, business administration, and criminal justice administration. He also has an MBA and a master's degree in organizational leadership.

In his new role, he will lead McGriff’s risk management team to provide consultative solutions for our clients that span McGriff’s diverse industry segments and geographic footprint. The immediate areas of focus will be building relationships with teams across the organization to provide critical support for retention and growth.

He can be reached at bmccosh@mcgriff.com or 404-847-1623.

Shane Sumrall joined McGriff in 2008 and has held several claims leadership roles, most recently serving as National Claims Escalation Leader. Sumrall earned an associate’s degree in atmospheric science from the U.S. Air Force and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Boise State University. He earned his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law.

In his new position, his primary focus will be to build cohesive and proficient teams that can effectively address the immediate needs of McGriff’s clients during claims events. He will also work to realign the firm’s claim resources and specialty teams to collaborate and provide best-in-class services for McGriff’s production teams and clients on a regional and national level.
